I do not think Sisko would have killed Tuvix but I also do not think Janeway would have dirty bombed that colony.
#i am thinking about them and the difference in their morality#i think janeway could run ds9 but it would not be ds9 anymore it would be a sterile federation base#and i think sisko could survive the trek home through the delta quadrant but by the end it would be starfleet only in name#janeway leans heavily towards assimilation and i think being in contact with the rest of starfleet would worsen this by reinforcing it#whereas in isolation she is constantly getting pushback from the marquis and the delta quadrant natives#and is forced to genuinely take these things into consideration#sisko on the other hand would go off the rails extremely quickly because he has a strong internal morality and i think he might#take it too far if not occasionally being forced to reign it in by external forces like bajor and the federation higher ups.#also they would never make it home because sisko would be intent on meddling and helping everyone they crossed paths with /pos#ds9#voyager

Spoilers for Star Trek: Prodigy
Why I'm fine with the J/C reunion, with gifs!
Ok, look. I've been shipping J/C for over twenty years at this point. Voyager was my first fandom and J/C was my first ship and maybe I'm in the minority here but I am fine with how they handled things... Because you have to remember at the end of the day this is a show written for kid and it is about the kids and a romantic relationship between two middle aged people is not going to be the priority... so we didn't get a kiss. Would it have been nice to get a kiss? Of course. But what we did get is:
This hug... like look at this... the way his closes his eye and rubs her back and leans his head a little closer head as it goes on...
And this is not a brief hug... the camera cuts away to Dal and Gwyn's reaction and to Noum and Tysess coming into the room then it cuts back and they are still hugging.
And even as they break a part they keep hanging on to each other and Chakotay says "I've thought about this moment for what feels like an eternity" like he spent all those years thinking about being reunited with his Kathryn... 😭 Plus she puts her hand on his chest and he's not even in a biobed (iykyk)
And then they look at each other like this...
and it's clear from the angle of Chakotay's arm here that he is still touching her
There's also the fact that pretty much any time Janeway, Chakotay, Dal and Gwyn are in the room together the camera will cut from J/C to Dal & Gwyn or from Dal & Gwyn to J/C associating J/C with the show's main romantic pairing... In this scene for example it cuts from J/C to Dal & Gwyn... and after Janeway and Chakotay look at each other in this shot, it cuts to Dal telling Gywn "What ever this reality throws at us, I'm glad I'm in this one with you."
And then there is this shot:
Where Janeway puts her hand on top of Chakotay's while they are literally framed by Gywn and Dal with Dal's personal log in voice over saying "maybe home isn't always a place, it's the people we trust the most."
To me this is "show don't tell" and the thing they are showing us is that these two are in love with each other. To me this is not subtle, this is not subtext. A kiss is not the only way to show that two characters are in love.
There's also the possibility that they were not already a romantic couple when Chakotay left with the Protostar and that it took this separation for them to acknowledge their feelings to themselves. (or possibly just for Janeway to acknowledge to herself how she felt about him, since I think Chakotay was already quite aware of how he felt about her.) That was my assumption all along and if that's the case, give them a chance to process and talk to each other.
Also Holo-Janeway looks so sad here... I'm sure she's happy for Chakotay that finally got home but she also knows she's lost him...😭

Title: Back To Work
Characters: Janeway/fem!reader
Rating: PG
Janeway wanted you to come to her quarters in the evening when she had time off. You approached her door and heard her call for you to come in. You found her in her chair, her arm casually draped over the back of the chair, a position you loved seeing her in. She had on her short-sleeved undershirt and was reading a book.
"I didn't mean to interrupt your relaxation time," you said, feeling like you'd intruded.
"Nonsense," she said, waving a hand in the air to dismiss your concern. "I just lost track of time. Make yourself comfortable," she said, gesturing to the sofa. "Lemme just finish this chapter."
You told her not to hurry and you sat down on the sofa. You couldn't help but be transfixed on her. The intense stare at the pages. The arm over the chair back. The undershirt. She looked irresistible. You couldn't stop imagining all the things you wanted to do to--
And then you noticed her book was lowered and she was smiling at you as you were lost in the thought of her. "Sorry," you said shyly.
"For what?" she asked. "Having naughty thoughts about me?"
You shifted in your seat. "How did you know I was--"
"It's written all over your face clearer than the words in this book," she answered. "Plus there's a bit of drool in the corner of your mouth." She laughed as you wiped your mouth. "I'm teasing you," she added, standing up and walking over to you. She removed her shirt revealing the tank top beneath it. She knew you loved seeing her in that. "Better?" she purred seductively. She motioned for you to put your legs up on the sofa.
"Much," you said, stretching out on the sofa as she wished.
She straddled your waist and put her hands on either side of your head before lowering herself down to kiss you. You moaned lightly as her tongue explored your mouth. Soon you were moaning even louder as she started to grind herself against you.
Her lips moved to your ear. She nipped and nibbled at your lobe. "Is this what you wanted?" she whispered into your ear. You nodded as your voice had suddenly been lost in the excitement. She rocked her pelvis harder against you, bringing out more sounds from deep within you.
Your hands found their way to her hips and you pulled her towards you with an uncontrollable need to feel her against you as much as possible. You slid one hand up under her shirt, wishing to feel the warmth of her skin. "I need you," you finally spoke. It was a faint, breathy plead, but she heard you.
She sat upright and began fiddling with your pants, trying to unfasten them. Your pulse sped up with anticipation. When her eyes locked on yours, you felt a surge of electricity shoot to your very core. She grinned, knowing exactly how you felt. She got your pants undone and--
"Captain," a male voice appeared from the air, "You're needed on the bridge."
"Dammit, Chakotay," she groaned before actually replying to say she would be right there.
You let out a heavy sigh and she shrugged at you.
"This'll have to wait," she frowned as she fastened your pants back up. She crawled off of you and put her other shirt back on. "I'll make it up to you, I promise."
You were sitting up by now and looking disappointed. You tried to smile, not wanting it to feel like it was her fault for having to leave you like this. "Duty calls," you said with faux cheer.
Buttoning up her uniform, she leaned down and kissed you. "I promise," she reassured. And you knew she meant it. "Stay the night," she said, on her way out. "I'll be back as soon as I can."
And with that, she was back to work.

I think another part of me wishes that they kept more implants on Seven before removing all of it (Sorry, Jeri, I know you hated the whole makeup thing).
I wish they played up more about how truly dangerous it was to have Seven of Nine aboard before she acclimated to the Voyager way of life. Seven says that most of the crew are afraid of her and Tom concurred but we didn't really see it.
The showrunners were so overeager for Sexy Borg Lady that they skipped through a really great narrative about how scary and dangerous it was to have a barely reformed Borg onboard.
Having a Borg aboard should have been like a livewire situation. Handled with extreme care.
Unfortunately, it seems the network and Berman only allowed up to three episodes of continuity. Seven being in her partial Borg get up in The Gift (4x02) was already pushing it.
Seven is friendly (for a newly severed Borg) but don't think for one second she's not dangerous.
I wish Voyager leaned more into Seven as the most dangerous entity on that ship next to Janeway.
Just like in Killjoys how no one ever forgot in the show and in the overall narrative that the most dangerous person in Team Awesome Force was Dutch.
Or how Buffy is the thing monsters are afraid of.
Seven was quite literally part of the galactic boogeyman.
Also, who else has had such a metal introduction?

i did find "sacred ground" interesting but--and i'm not sure this was the actual argument of the episode, it was ambiguous enough and was mostly focused on janeway's relationship to the ideas over the ideas in and of themselves--i don't think it's necessary to try to collapse the space between faith and science in order to make the point that faith is capable of offering solutions to human problems and is often more present in the consciousness than rationalists like to believe. like i know the scientific method has a fraught history, that it's been used in bad-faith, that it's not a complete solution, that science is affected by bias and hate and intellectual and ethical limitations, that 'truth-seeking' means a lot of variable things, that knowledge can mean variable things, that the mythic quality of science can overwhelm its actual project, that it's often been a tool--actual and rhetorical--for terrible things, yes. but reasoning and praying are different things. just because both require an acknowledgement of the limitations of human understanding of the cosmos doesn't mean they're the same.
when the greek chorus asks janeway if she believes with enough time and study she'd be able to find an answer and she says "yes," this is and expression of faith in science. it's not science itself. the abstract rational response to that question is "i don't know." which she does eventually get to and the episode seems to be leaning in the direction of it being faith rather than rationality. but it's the action of putting kes back in the thing that gave her a fatal blow that's faith because it's absurd, not the expression of not knowing. janeway's faith in science is broken in such a strange way--with the implication that no scientific answer would have arisen without her departure from the rational. "she likes tests." "that is the challenge." not sure if the episode is arguing janeway needed her faith in science to be humbled or her faith in always finding a solution--but either way those are different things.
kes's function in the story as the figurative isaac, as the in-universe figurative prince of the king, further emphasizes whatever janeway's journey is, too, bc kes does have the sort of arrogance that the greek chorus accuses janeway of having: she races off to touch something that doesn't belong to her, she's said previously she wants to "crack open" the universes secrets like janeway, she's impulsively ran away from her home to that which was discouraged/forbidden, and she anthropomorphizes the doctor in a way based off her own rationale of being--that of not agreeing to limitations put on the self. that janeway has to "sacrifice" her to save her could either mean, again, that she needs to sacrifice her faith in science or sacrifice her faith in always finding a solution. and again, however the episode treats those two things, they're not the same.
but there was still something very satisfying in watching the janeway king figure bow her head and expose her neck for the green knight to maybe cut it off, in return.

A Tuvok & Janeway focused T-rated fanfic for Bad Things Happen Bingo
Summary:
An Injured Janeway is found by Tuvok and Chakotay.
Preview of story:
Tuvok finds Janeway in the woods, leaning against a tree. Her eyes are half-lidded, and not quite there. She’s putting most of her weight on the single arm braced against the large tree beside her. Its dark bark digs into her skin, leaving her arm red and black. Her clothes are torn in several places, a large chunk of her shirt hangs, barely against her side. Even if he could not see all the blood on her, Tuvok would have smelled it, but alas the image of her, drenched in blood, sweat, and other materials he can only guess at without a full scan makes his stomach harden as his heart beats furiously at the flesh separating the two organs.
He’s beside her before Chakotay can even get her name out of his mouth. He loops one hand around the small of her back, as he cradles the other beneath her arm, guiding her away from the tree and keeping her feet in front of his. Janeway all but falls into his hold. Her head leans back. She grins as their eyes meet. “Tuvok.” She whispers, clearly relieved.
“Kathryn!” Chakotay calls out again, and Tuvok’s hold on her tightens ever so slightly. She does not like to be referred to by her name when in command, but clearly she and the first officer had reached some sort of agreement. That must be the reason why she smiles at Chakotay instead of reprimanding him. Janeway likes her rules, and agreements. Her clearly set codes, and guides to life, and relationships. Tuvok understands the ease of having clearly set expectations to meet.
There are rules in place for this scenario too, so Tuvok follows them. He doesn’t flinch away as Chakotay moves to help him get Captain Janeway back to the shuttle. Nor does he argue when Chakotay chooses to lift Janeway and rests her on a bench seat in the back of the shuttle, before moving to the pilot’s seat. Tuvok returns to work.

Dal/Gwyn, Janeway/Chakotay parallels
I've been mulling this over for a while so I just wanna put all of these down. I really have been enjoying the parallels between these four, and there's a bunch. Will add to this as I think of more.
Dal and Janeway:
They're both on a quest to find home. Janeway back to Earth. Dal back to his family.
Both captain a nontraditional crew and bring them under the Starfleet banner. Dal captains his crew of escaped prisoners from Tars Lamora and Janeway the combined members of her original crew and the Maquis in each case this is born of expediency. They need the crew numbers to get the ship running. And for both part of their journey becomes learning to be a better captain to their unique crews.
Both explore and grapple with their relationship to starfleet ideals. In Dal's case learning Starfleet ideals and laws from scratch and putting them into practice. In Janeway's having her existing ideals tested by an environment where they are difficult to hold to. She and Dal both experience obstacles that test their commitment to these ideals and face consequences of straying from them.
Stars: Dal's window of dreams. Janeway's love of nebulas. The stars mean different things to these two: freedom to Dal and discovery to Janeway but both are seen to have a particular affinity for them.
Learning to lean on their crew: Both in one way or another return to themes of accepting help rather than depending only on themselves. For Dal, this comes from a past of self-preservation and survival. For Janeway, from guilt-driven instinct to put her crew before herself. Both see some of their greatest successes and moments of growth when they set aside those tendencies and accept help from their crew.
Gwyn and Chakotay
Both leave their home for Starfleet, and later return to it when it is in trouble. Chakotay leaves Dorvan/Trebus at 15 against the wishes of his father in order to pursue Starfleet Academy. and only returns when it attacked by the Cardassians. Gwyn idealizes Starfleet her whole life on Tars Lamora only to decide to try to save Solum rather than join her friends as warrant officers.
Both have complicated relationships with their dead fathers. Both of their fathers disagreed with their pursuit of Starfleet, and wanted them to embrace a future that more directly benefited their homeworld. Both were in conflict with them before their deaths and Both of their fathers were killed violently, spurring a shift in their thinking.
Both love exploring other cultures. Gwyn has a love of languages. Chakotay of archeology/anthropology. Both enjoy learning about new people and places and making connections.
Both of their homeworlds are abandoned by the Federation for political reasons - a treaty with the Cardassians in one case and a commitment to non-interference in the other. In Chakotay's case this leads him to turn against starfleet for a time, feeling that it had abandoned its ideals. I'm curious if Gwyn's mission to Solum will lead her down a similar path.
Both act the first officer to an equal. Chakotay was a captain of his own ship before agreeing to be Janeway's second in command. Gwyn has more technical expertise about the Protostar's systems than Dal, and more familiarity with the Federation.
Dal/Gwyn &. Chakotay/Janeway
Both pairs begin their relationship at odds in similar ways. Janeway is seeking to arrest Chakotay. Dal is first Gwyn's prisoner and then takes her as a captive.
The Moral Star/Coda parallels. I just enjoy a good "You might be dying in my arms and I never told you how I felt moment" okay. I am a sucker for it.
Gwyn and Dal ending Season 1 in a similar place to where Janeway and Chakotay were at the start of it. Chakotay winds up trapped on Alt!Future Solum after accepting a mission to complete some of the unfinished work/fix some of the mistakes Voyager had when it first traversed the Delta Quadrant. Gwyn ends Season one going to fix some of the mistakes made between Solum and Starfleet in the alternate future. Janeway and Dal, meanwhile, are at HQ with their own Starfleet-focused duties.
Speculations:
All of the above have me wondering if both couples are in a similar place romantically. Dal and Gwyn are just beginning a romantic relationship when they separate. Is that where Janeway and Chakotay are as well?
And will this mean that Gwyn will also need a rescue? Will her mission go sideways like Chakotay's did?

Without You
No True Pair 8 Character Challenge Fandoms: Star Trek TNG, Voyager Pair: Beverly Crusher/ Kathryn Janeway Word Count: 526 Rating: G Prompt: seasons change
The smell of autumn is in the air, despite the late summer heat. Scent is one of the things that the holodeck never gets quite right, but it's easy to forget what it's really like when you've spent so many years on a starship. Now, Kathryn sits on the front porch of the family farmhouse, breathing in the earthy aroma and admiring the reds and oranges and golds of the changing leaves scattered throughout the green trees.
"Room for one more?" Beverly asks, appearing at Kathryn's side.
Kathryn looks up and smiles. "Always," she says, stretching her arm across the back of the porch swing to indicate Beverly's seat.
Beverly slides onto the bench next to Kathryn and kisses her on the cheek as she hands her an iced coffee (black, of course).
"My hero," Kathryn sighs, taking the coffee gratefully. Iced coffee is another thing that she forgot she enjoyed over all those years. There's no need to sully your coffee with ice when you live in a temperature controlled environment. But on humid days like this, she welcomes the crisp chill of an iced beverage — especially when Beverly makes the coffee extra strong.
"I bet this view is incredible when all of the leaves turn," Beverly muses, her hand coming to rest comfortably on Kathryn's knee while she looks out at the expanse of oak and maple trees that reach far beyond the boundaries of the Janeway property. "And then in the winter, covered in ice and snow…"
"What makes you think you'll get to see it in the winter?" Kathryn teases.
"Well if I'm not here, who's going to bring you coffee?" Beverly teases back without missing a beat.
"Replicator," Kathryn replies with a shrug.
"You're going to live off of replicated coffee again?" Beverly asks, suddenly turning away from the view to face Kathryn. "Kathryn, are you going back?" her playful tone has turned to worry and there are creases of concern around her eyes and forehead.
Kathryn turns away from the view as well and looks at Beverly. She gazes into her eyes, the exact shade of blue as the sky on a fresh spring day. She runs her fingers through softly curled hair, streaked through with oranges, reds, and golds more beautiful than any autumn leaves. Her fingers skate down Beverly's cheek, over skin as smooth and flawless as a newly frozen pond. Finally, she leans in, and gently presses her lips to Beverly's, reveling in a warmth more welcoming than the summer sun.
"I'm not going anywhere," Kathryn murmurs her reassurance. She leans her forehead against Beverly's and feels the muscles there relax, a smile blooming on the cheek still being caressed by Kathryn's fingers.
Kathryn knows she'll go back eventually — the pull of the stars is still too great — but she also knows she won't go without Beverly. Because the number one thing she missed — the thing she never was able to forget for all those years — was what it feels like to hold this woman in her arms. Autumn and nature and iced coffees be damned, Beverly is the one thing she will never again be without.

Endgame (episode) | Memory Alpha | Fandom
"A scene deleted from this episode depicted Chakotay having dinner with both the captain and admiral versions of Janeway. They spoke about their adventures and, when Captain Janeway was out of earshot, Admiral Janeway leaned over to ask Chakotay about his personal life. Chakotay acted surprised, though the admiral assured him, "There's no need to be coy with me, Chakotay. I know exactly what's going on." Chakotay was clearly reticent to discuss his personal life while his captain was nearby. Scripted stage directions indicated that he glanced towards Captain Janeway, who was standing at a replicator. "Don't worry. She doesn't know yet," the admiral stated. "So… how are things with Seven?" Chakotay smiled and replied, "Great." The script revealed that the admiral was "warmed to see Chakotay at such a happy time in his life." This scene was filmed, though edited from the final version of the episode. (Star Trek Magazine issue 121, p. 78)"
--- Omg, just to torture my little J/C shipper heart, I want to watch that scene so badly. 😱 Gives me all sorts of twisted fan fiction ideas.
Also, how many other scenes are there that were filmed but cut? Is there a chance, we'll ever get to see them? I damn hope they've been properly archived. Ah, I would pay good money to see them, even just snippets. 😩

Hello hi! I love your idea to do fics based on Spotify Wrapped! 💕 I'd like to request a reader-insert Chakotay fic if that's alright! (I feel like there's a real shortage of Chakotay fics that don't include a pairing with Janeway.) And let's go with numberrrrrr 38! Thank you, can't wait to see what you come up with! ☺️
Hiii I agree - there aren't enough reader insert Chakotay fics! Hope you like this xx
So Good [Chakotay]
Prompt: So Good by Halsey Word count: 1.8k Pairing: Chakotay x femme reader Notes: Let me know if you like the third person POV! Also I'm battling a head cold rn so I apologize for any errors or mistakes.
“I can’t.”
Y/N exhaled slowly, breath fanning Chakotay’s lips. “Then why are you here?”
Chakotay shut his eyes and leaned his forehead against Y/N’s forehead. “I don’t know.”
Y/N ran her hands down his sides and felt him shiver beneath her touch. “I saw it on your face, Chakotay. I know you feel this, too.”
“I do. I do, I just…” He shook his head and moved back, staring at her with mixed emotions: yearning, confusion, hurt, guilt, want. “I can’t.”
Y/N stared at him, stomach twisting. She swallowed hard, then pulled away. “You should go, then.”
Chakotay didn’t say anything for a few moments, and for a split second, he looked like he was going to kiss her. Then he shook his head and looked away. “I’m sorry.”
“Me too.”
-
When Y/N was assigned to Voyager, she had no idea how emotionally strenuous their first mission would be. She knew the commander of the Maquis ship was a previous Starfleet officer, but she didn’t know it was Chakotay. The man she hadn’t been able to stop thinking about since their last encounter years back; when he walked out of her apartment, likely to go hold his girlfriend’s body closer to him so he could forget about what he and Y/N had almost done.
Nothing had happened, not really. The two had been working together for several months and one night they’d been at Y/N’s apartment celebrating their project’s completion. They’d been sleep deprived, a little intoxicated, and had gotten a little too close. Y/N had known Chakotay had a girlfriend. She’d known he was unavailable, and it wasn’t until she felt his body heat radiating towards her on her couch, seeing his soft eyes linger on her face, that she’d realized how much she liked him. How she wished they could be more.
She knew it was bad. But they could have been so good.
Nothing happened, but oh how Y/N wished something had. She never would have wanted him to cheat on his girlfriend, but she’d been desperately hoping he’d tell her it was over. That what he and Y/N felt was real.
But that was years ago and she hadn’t seen him since.
Never in her wildest dreams did she think the two of them would somehow both wind up thrown across the galaxy and find themselves on the same ship, one which they’d likely spend the rest of their lives.
At first, she didn’t believe it. Through all of the chaos and danger, Y/N hadn’t really learned or met the Maquis until after the array had been destroyed and their fates had been sealed. She didn’t really get a chance to encounter more of them until she was trudging her way through the corridors of the ship, eager to collapse on her bed and pray she woke up back home on Earth. She passed by unfamiliar face after unfamiliar face—some in Starfleet uniforms that she just hadn’t had the chance to meet yet, and some still in their Maquis uniforms.
She was nearly at her quarters when she heard his name being uttered in passing. She stopped dead in her tracks and looked to the couple of Maquis talking to themselves down the corridor. She must have been hearing things, because there was no way…
“—I can’t believe Chakotay agreed to all this,” one of them said, “Letting Starfleet be in command of us all.”
“Yeah,” said the other. “Just because he used to be Starfleet, doesn’t mean we all want to be shoved into their stuffy system.”
Y/N stopped listening after that. Chakotay was there. On Voyager. In the Delta Quadrant. Stranded with the rest of them for who knew how long.
“Computer,” Y/N said. “Locate Chakotay.”
“Commander Chakotay is in his quarters.”
Y/N’s heard raced. She had a brief thought of, he’s already been promoted to commander? but quickly shoved that aside and asked the computer for the location of his quarters. She made her way there as quickly as she could without looking weird. When she reached his door, her hand hovered over the doorbell.
She didn’t even know what she was going to say to him, but she needed to see him. They’d have to speak to one another and work together eventually, so she might as well rip the bandage off.
Taking in a deep breath, she pressed the console and the chime rang.
“Come in.”
Y/N’s stomach flipped at the sound of his voice. She opened the door and stepped inside, heart beating so loudly she could barely hear anything else.
“Y/N?”
She turned and her lips parted. There he was, standing not ten feet from her. He looked the same, albeit with a new facial tattoo. He was still as handsome as she remembered him being.
“Hi,” Y/N said quietly, taking another step in to allow the door to close behind her.
Chakotay’s eyes darted around her, as if he couldn’t believe she was standing there. She could practically hear the gears turning in his head.
“I… heard you were on board,” she said slowly. “Thought I would… say hi.”
Chakotay took a small, hesitant step forward. “Y/N, I—wow. It’s… been a while.”
“Yeah.”
Chakotay offered her a smile. “It’s nice to see a friendly face.”
Y/N tilted her head to the side. “Who says I’m going to be friendly?” she mused lightly.
Chakotay chuckled. “Wishful thinking.”
Y/N returned his smile. “It’s good to see you.”
“You too.” He waved to his couch. “Sit. I’d offer you a drink or something, but, well, you know the replicators are still down.”
Y/N nodded and moved to the couch. “It’s alright.”
Chakotay sat on the other end. He stared at her for a few moments in silence. “What are the odds?”
“I’m wondering that, myself.” Y/N shook her head slowly, still having a sense that all of it was just impossible; maybe she’d still wake up tomorrow and learn it was all a dream. But if it was a dream, she wanted to make the best of it.
She reached out her hand tentatively, resting it on the cushion between them.
A genuine smile spread on Chakotay’s face. He placed his hand atop hers and she took in a sharp breath. The warmth of his palm was comforting and familiar. She intertwined their fingers and Chakotay squeezed gently.
“I can’t believe you’re here,” Y/N murmured, staring at their hands. “I didn’t know you joined the Maquis.”
“When the fighting started on my home world, I had to go,” he replied simply. “I couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.”
Y/N nodded. “That makes sense.”
Chakotay made a soft, thoughtful sound.
Y/N looked up and met his gaze. “What?”
He smiled. “Nothing. Just nice that you aren’t ridiculing me.”
Y/N shook her head and gave him a funny look. “You know I wouldn’t do that. Especially not for something like that. Starfleet may deem the Maquis to be terrorists, but… If someone came by Earth one day and said we had to give the planet to, say, the Xindi? Yeah, pretty sure a lot of people would also rebel against that.”
Chakotay’s smile widened. “I knew there was a reason I liked you.”
Y/N’s cheeks flushed and she ducked her head. “I know the fight must mean a lot to you—you never were one to resort to violence unless absolutely necessary—but… I’m glad you’re here away from it.” She cringed. “Not that I want you to be stranded in the Delta Quadrant for the next seventy years, but—”
Chakotay’s quiet chuckle cut her off. “I know what you’re trying to say.”
She nodded silently.
Chakotay gave her hand a squeeze. “We should probably talk about things. If we’re going to be working together for the rest several decades.”
Y/N’s stomach flipped. She nodded because of course she wanted to talk about it, but at the same time she just wanted to keep talking to him about anything but. It was just so nice to be with him like that: close but not too close with a comfortable, unspoken trust between them. “Yeah, I know. Look, I—I’m sorry. I know it was bad—that I didn’t push you away or stop you more. I know nothing really happened, but I shouldn’t have let things get so… emotionally complicated before that night.”
“It isn’t your fault,” Chakotay said. “You aren’t responsible for my actions.”
“Still… I should have respected your relationship more.”
“I appreciate you saying that,” he said softly. “So should I.”
Y/N bit her lip and looked at him for a few moments. “Are you two still together? I know… I know a lot of people on board are struggling with the realization that they won’t see their partners for a long time.”
Chakotay’s look softened. “No, we broke up.”
“Oh.” Y/N’s heart fluttered, but she instantly felt guilty because she shouldn’t feel happy that his relationship didn’t work out.
“That night,” he said slowly, carefully, “after I left, I… I did a lot of thinking. No matter what happened with you and I, I knew I had to end things with her.”
“Oh,” Y/N repeated, unsure of what else to say.
“So I did. I broke up with her and there wasn’t anything I wanted more than to go to you and tell you how I felt.” A look of guilt passed over his features. “But it didn’t feel right. Not right after I broke up with her. So I waited to let the dust settle and see if space between you and I would change anything.” He shook his head. “But you were all I thought about, Y/N. Everything reminded me of you, but then more time passed and it just never felt right to reach out to you again. The project we’d been working on had ended and we both had new assignments… But I never stopped thinking about you.”
Y/N shifted closer. “I never stopped thinking about you, either. I felt awful for what happened. I knew it was bad, and I knew that reaching out to you so soon after would be even worse. But… but I never stopped thinking about what we could have been.”
Chakotay lifted her hand and feathered his lips to her knuckles. “It isn’t too late to find out.”
Y/N’s breath hitched. “I guess not.”
“If you want to give it a try,” Chakotay said, staring at her. “I won’t beg or force you, and I will back off immediately if you tell me to. But we’ve been given a second chance, and I… I think we could be good together.”
Y/N pulled her hand out of his and hurt flashed across his features. But then she took his face in her hands and moved closer and just before she kissed him, she saw him smile.

Sleepover
Emily Prentiss X reader, part 2/?
Reader cats are named after my rats lol
/ Thursday 8th, 11:45pm. Seattle /
It strikes Emily as quietly domestic, sitting in bed next to each other, doing your own thing on your tablets in companionable silence.
She checks her watch and discovers it's almost midnight again, and reaches down to pull her tablet on the charger. You see her starting to move out of the corner of your eye and follow suit, leaning over Emily to place your tablet next to hers on the nightstand.
Emily basically manhandles you into the same spooning position you started in last night, smiling as she pulls and tugs at you until she's comfortable. You don't think you can get more comfortable than being in her arms, anyway she wants you.
Emily breaks the silence, "You think it's bad that I like cuddling you more than Sergio?"
You laugh and shake your head slightly, "Nope, unless I wake up with you headbutting me because you're hungry, I think I prefer you over my cat too."
"You have a cat too?" She asks.
You nod, "I have two, they stay with my neighbours while we're away."
"What are their names?"
"The oldest is Janeway, she's almost 10." You pause at the look Emily's giving you, she stares at you, before laughing, "Janeway? You nerd."
"Hey!" You exclaim, "She's a very well respected captain. Asimov is 4, I call her 'Azi' mostly. They were both strays that claimed me as their human not long after I moved to D.C."
"Janeway and Asimov." Emily shakes her head, she's smiling, "Does Reid know he has nerd competition?"
You roll your eyes, and turn yourself back onto your side, body tucked into Emily's.
"Goodnight, Em."
Tonight you fall asleep first, Emily's fingers tracing a figure 8 on your arm lulling you into a peaceful sleep.
Only once she's very very sure you're asleep, does Emily change her pattern to hearts, a small, invisible, expression of her growing feelings for you, an attempt to acknowledge those feelings silently, but still outside the privacy of her mind.
When she'd invited you to share her bed last night, it had been an impulse, no thought given to her crush on you but it was becoming undeniable, and Emily is sure when the team returns to Quantico Penelope will see right through her and double down her efforts to convince Emily to ask you out.
Emily tries to push the thoughts from her mind, forces herself to breathe evenly and falls asleep.
In her dream, Emily gently headbutts your shoulder a couple times until you stir, laughing at her and turning to face her.
"I'm hungry." She whines with a smirk.
"You're not actually a cat, you can get up and get your own food." You try to tuck yourself back into her body, but Emily pushes your shoulder down, until you're on your back and she's hovering above you, hands next to your head.
"Maybe what I want to eat is already in bed with me."
/ 2:22am /
Suddenly you're awake, the bed shakes with the force of Emily sitting up.
"Bad dream?" You ask.
She mumbles something and nods slightly, her eyes look heavy. You pull her back down under the blanket and into you, making her the little spoon and hoping it might help her feel safe enough to fall back asleep.
You both fall back asleep quickly, Emily's 'bad dream' temporarily forgotten as she melts into you.
/ 7:30am /
Emily's been avoiding eye contact with you all morning, she turned the small TV on almost as soon as you both woke up, the news the only thing stopping the room from drowning in silence.
You glance at her again, she's pulling her boots on and you figure you have to ask now before she leaves the room and you both get swept up in the case details again.
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
Emily finally looks up at you, and for the first time in a while, you actually find eye contact comforting instead of stressful.
"Talk about what?"
"Your bad dream? It can help to talk it out," You've had plenty of bad dreams yourself, and while you've never talked about them you've always appreciated when someone offers to listen.
Emily shakes her head, her shoulders relaxing slightly from how she's had her whole body tensed, on edge and jumpy all morning.
"It wasn't really a bad dream," She clocks your disbelief before you can school your face into a neutral expression, "More like a jumpscare really."
You just nod, knowing she's not telling you the whole truth, and follow her out the door to the lobby for another day of crime fighting.

Another fanfic idea stuck in my head. I wish I had the patience and energy to write these things at more length and detail.
=/\=
Title: The Ass In Astrometrics
Characters: Janeway/fem!reader, mentions of Seven & Harry
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
You were newly assigned to the Astrometrics lab to learn some things from Seven. Captain Janeway thought it would be beneficial to you to broaden your skills aboard the ship and help keep you busy. You were in the middle of a lesson from Seven when the doors opened and Janeway walked in.
"How's it going in here?" she asked, cheerfully.
"It is going well, Captain," Seven responded.
You shyly glanced over at Janeway as she approached the front of the console. She looked you over, not letting on that there was anything between the two of you. "Good, good," she said.
"Seven, would you mind catching up to Ensign Kim and getting his latest report? I just passed him in the hallway and forgot." Janeway was suddenly more serious, as if the report was something she required right away.
"Of course, Captain. I will be right back." Seven was gone in no time.
As soon as the doors closed, Janeway slipped around the console, brushed up against you from behind and took her place by your side that Seven had previously vacated. You felt her hand touch your middle back and slide slowly down to cup your rear. She leaned back for a glance, smiled and said, "You sure do put the 'ass' in 'astrometrics'."
You giggled for a split second before warning her, "Seven will be back any second!"
Janeway removed her hand and, with a caring look on her face, assured you, "Harry was way ahead of me in the hallway. That'll give us at least a minute."
She put her left hand on your hip, turning you towards her, and her right hand on your face, then leaned in and kissed you passionately. It was intense, but much too brief. You moaned slightly as she pulled away and resumed normal composure. She smirked, knowing the effect it had on you.
Right on cue, Seven returned. She handed over the report, unsure as to why it couldn't have waited, but she didn't pursue the matter. "Ensign Kim's report, Captain."
Janeway took it and moved out of Seven's position at the console, but not before reaching behind her to brush your skin with her fingertips. "Thank you, Seven," she said as she made her way to the door.
She looked back at you and added, "We'll continue our discussion later."
You smiled and nodded. Seven looked at you quizzically and asked, "What discussion is she referring to? I was only gone a minute."
You shrugged and replied, "Just asterometrics stuff."

I honestly started watching Voyager with a FULL knowledge that J/C are not going to be canon. I KNEW that. Not that it prevented me from being outraged at them ultimately not being canon, because half way through season 1, I found myself hoping that the ending to this 20-something year old show would somehow magically change and they will end up canon. Because how two people like Janeway and Chakotay, with that mind-blowing chemistry, who are clearly meant to be together, could not end up being canon?
But anyway, I'm rewatching Voy now, and that Chakotay/Seven thing makes even less sense now than it did before. It's so completely random. If Janeway and Chakotay were not meant to be, then surely it makes way more sense to pair Janeway with Seven because, even though I'm leaning toward more mother/daughter vibes, some scenes between them are just ultra gay.
But Seven and Chakotay makes exactly zero sense.

Voyager rewatch s4 ep19: The Killing Game pt 2
It's 1940s WWII holodeck adventures part 2! The fun continues as the American soldiers join the Resistance fighters in the picturesque French village of St. Clair (aka holodeck one).
Janeway and Seven attempt to access and disable the crew's neural interfaces to the holodeck before their Hirogen captors find out, while the Americans find their way to the nightclub where the Resistance is hiding out. This leads to the unbearably cute reveal that Tom and B'Elanna's holocharacters, Bobby and Brigitte, are each other's long lost loves. When they're told to go work together, we're treated to an absolutely lovely scene of the two of them reminiscing about their romance before the war. Robbie and Roxann both fit the old Hollywood movie character types they're playing here to a T- they both have that vibe even as Tom and B'Elanna, so it's so much fun to let them totally play into it here, especially with the mutual pining their holocharacters have going on. I know I give the writers a hard time a lot, but I honestly couldn't have invented anything better if they'd asked me personally what AU fanfiction I'd love to stick Tom and B'Elanna in. His wholesome, earnest American soldier boy and her beautiful, worldly, tough dame with a soft spot for him are just so spot on. And when he pulls up that chair?? and sits eagerly leaning over the back of it, hanging on her every word?? looking at her, with her pouty red lips and her big brown eyes, like she's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen??? Ughhh I melt into a puddle of feels!! I have no ability to be normal about this subplot, I've been shipper trash for them since I was a kid, I can't help it!!
Anyway, Janeway and Seven return at this point, having been unable to disconnect anyone else. But they have a plan they need help with, and they play along with their 1940s personas so the others don't get suspicious. Janeway convinces Chakotay to come help her, and they use the hole in the holodeck wall to sneak into the ship. Chakotay, even while mind controlled, still seems taken with Janeway, calling her a good leader and a 'gung ho gal' (which Janeway seems to find amusing.) They find a way to disconnect the crew on the holodeck, which happens just as they're having a shoot out with the nazis, who take them prisoner. We get an explanation that B'Elanna's character's pregnancy is a holographic projection, which was a clever way to let B'Elanna have more to do in the story without the hindrance of having to hide Roxann's real-life pregnancy. (And lol at Tom reacting exactly the same way his 1940s character would when the German officer insults B'Elanna- dude, he's a hologram, he's not a real guy! He didn't really have an affair with her, it's not a real baby, you don't have to punch the pretend nazi for insulting your girl, especially when he's got a gun, and holodeck safety is off! But I'm a sucker for old-timey tropes like a guy defending the honor of his lady love, so I'll give him a pass for being reckless, because it's kinda romantic actually.)
Meanwhile, Janeway is injured and brought to the Hirogen leader, and tries to reason with him to let her crew go. He eventually agrees, but his second in command defies him when he finds out. The second Hirogen chases her through the ship, but Harry manages to set a countdown to overload the holo emitters. The crew on the holodeck are about to be shot by the holo-nazis, but the Doctor and Neelix lead a charge of Klingon warriors from the other holodeck simulation, and they hold them off long enough for the emitters to overload and delete all of the holocharacters. (The Doctor has some memorable and funny one-liners in this one too.)
Janeway gifts the remaining defeated Hirogen with holographic technology before they leave, in the hope that more of them can find a way to use it for their hunts, instead of hunting down real people. They don't commit, but they accept the gift, leaving a sliver of hope that they'll create a less violent future for themselves.
Tl;dr: A fun, exciting episode, that has action, drama, comedy, romance, and little featured moments for all of the main cast. There's a little bit of everything, all very well packaged together. One of my favorite Voyager stories, for sure!
